I didn’t see, but I heard the message of a milk commercial on TV, and it just burned my insides. “Milk has more protein!”. Can’t do much but smile and ignore it, but ignoring this is hard.
Fresh cow’s milk is high in fat and protein because it is produced for the feeding of a baby cow. On top of that, most of the milk you’ll find at your local grocery store have been fortified or infused with vitamins and minerals because apparently they weren’t there in the first place, and antibiotics, because the happy cows the milk came from were perfectly healthy… It’s ironic how the idea of pumping and selling human breast milk is disturbing to the public.
And I almost forgot to mention how it seems that with the “fitness craze” at an all time high, the dairy industry is trying to maintain and increase it’s number of consumers by making lame statements like, “milk has protein! drink milk.” Don’t fall for this. Anything you eat will have protein in it, and if you are eating whole foods, and an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables (without all the salt, fat, and preservatives) you will get all the protein you need. If you want big muscles lift heavy weights and eat more greens, nuts and seeds.
Milk is not sold because it is “healthy”. It is sold because it is profitable. And silly commercials that are made to make you think that milk is good because it has “more protein” only exist because the industry thinks you are too ignorant to know any better.
Seriously, you can live without milk. Milk is for babies.
